Jumping on the bandwagon: Revlon Lip Butters

Living in a quaint mountain town has its advantages. When shopping at the local Walmart (the only superstore in town) I made my way over to the makeup department. I headed straight to the Revlon section to check out the new highly anticipated lip butters. To my surprise, there were plenty to chose from and most were still in stock. After reading and hearing about them being sold out in most of the stores I was super excited. I decided to pick up two: Creamsicle and Berry Smoothie.

Now first of all, when shopping for a new lipstick my motto is "never judge a lipstick by its packaging." The majority of the time the way lipstick looks on your lips differs completely from the color of the packaging, obviously right? Well now here comes my mistake. I was instantly drawn to the color of Creamsicle because I thought it would be a pretty nude orangey color by the color of the cap. In fact it was, however, with my fair skin I wasn't too pleased with the way it looks on me. I feel it would look better on someone with more tanned skin. Hopefully this will be a good summer color for me but to make it work for right now I simply put a darker lipgloss over it and it comes out looking very pretty. Overall? It's okay for me. If you have pale skin nude colors are hard to pull off sometimes so be careful if you decide to buy this one.

Secondly, I decided to purchase Berry Smoothie. This is probably one of the most popular from what I have been reading about them. I can honestly say I love this color! It compliments me so well and it is not dark enough to drown me out. I definitely think this light maroon color will look good on everyone. It looks darker than it goes on so if you're looking for a dark color I would try one like Fig Jam which is 030.

These are lip butters so they need to be applied more throughout the day than lipstick does. This doesn't seem like a problem though because they instantly hydrate your lips so applying often feels nice. They go on smooth and don't leave your lips feeling sticky like some lip glosses do. They also don't leave that dry feeling you would sometimes get from lipsticks. I like to apply them right over my lip balm for super soft lips.

You're probably tired of hearing these reviews but hopefully one more will convince you to try them out if you haven't already. They cost about $7 which is pretty decent compared to other drugstore brands.
Overall, I'm impressed with this product and now I know why they were highly anticipated.

Gone bananas...

This isn't really a special post or anything but I today I had some free time so I decided to make some banana muffins. While I was in North Conway over the weekend I picked up a cute little bag of banana nut muffin mix. The good part about these muffins was that they contain wheat bran, hence the name "bran"ana bread, which is an excellent source of fiber. The bad part was that they were not as delicious as they smelt. I guess this is what I get for not making them from scratch, right?

Well nonetheless, not everything in life is going to come out the way we want it to. I'm about to get extremely cheesy on you but "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again." Just be prepared for whatever the outcome and have fun along the way.

(Yes, I just turned baking into a life lesson but I had to make this blog post interesting somehow ;).)

Jersey comes to Hampshire

Having great friends in our lives is almost a necessary part of survival today. Yes even the introverts, like me, enjoy the good company of a friend or two. I happen to have 6 lovely best friends who mean the world to me and I could not imagine my life without them. Only two of them were able to visit me over the weekend however I was more than happy to see them. They came all the way up from back home in Jersey along with my mother to see me.

While they were here we took a day trip up to North Conway. This little mountain town was one of the most adorable places I have ever been to. Not to mention the drive up was spectacular (picture mountains everywhere)! I wish I was able to see more but unfortunately we were running on a time constraint. This only means another visit is in the forecast soon.

Young love in New Hampshire

A wise man once told me, "young love is beautiful." I don't think I could of agreed with him more. Of course young love hardly lasts these days, but there are people out there who believe in the true power of love who want to make it last for as long as they can. If you're lucky enough, it may even last a lifetime. How ever long it lasts, cherish it. Cherish the new loves and even the old loves because they are the ones who brought you to your new loves in essence. Young love has the ability to teach you lessons that will stick with you forever and enlighten your soul. If you're young and have not found love yet, do not worry. You will find love eventually and it will be worth the wait.

This lovely little date was set up by Stephen the day I got my camera. We went and took pictures at one of the state parks, just the two of us. It may not seem too special to you, but it was a special day to us. Quality time is hard to find when you're living in a campus apartment with three other roommates. Actually, it's hard to find alone time in general when you're in college and schedules differ from everyone else's. The good part about it though is even with all the restraints, here, Stephen's my rock. He's strong, supportive, and by my side through thick and thin. Our relationship is far from perfect but it's what wakes me up inside.
